Agriculture Permanent Secretary Songowayo Zyambo says Zambia is anticipating higher crop harvest this year.

Mr. Zyambo, however, says the 2020/2021 crop forecast survey is in progress and will soon be concluded.

He says the Ministry of Agriculture trained all data collectors who are currently in the field and that once concluded, the Ministry will announce the results in the second week of May.

Mr. Zyambo says Zambia uses internationally recognised data collection method, which means that the results are always accurate.

He says the anticipated good crop harvest this year is due to good rainfall distribution, timely supply of farm inputs and the increased adoption of smart agricultural technologies.
