Chief Mumpolokoso of the Bemba people of Mporokoso District has called for a vigorous campaign against voter apathy ahead of the August 12 general election.

The Traditional leader says village headmen should work with relevant stakeholders to sensitise people on the importance of voting.

He has since directed village headmen in his chiefdom to ensure people in their respective areas turn up in large numbers to vote in the polls.

Chief Mumpolokoso said this when Mporokoso area Member of Parliament Brian Mundubile flagged off the distribution of 2-hundred and 50 bicycles donated by President Edgar Lungu to village headmen in the area.

He implored village headmen to work with the government of the day for continued development in the country.

Chief Mumpolokoso said President Lungu’s administration has shown determination to improve peoples’ welfare and deserves the support of all well- meaning Zambians.

And Mr. Mundubile thanked the Head of State for fulfilling his promise to provide transport to village headmen.

Mr. Mundubile, who is also Government Chief Whip, said the PF government remains committed to bettering the lives of all Zambians.

He said this has been done through various interventions aimed at bridging the development gap between rural and urban areas.
