Government says it is receiving overwhelming response from churches and other faith based organisations that are applying to access the 50 million-kwacha Presidential COVID-19 empowerment scheme.
Ministry of National guidance and Religious affairs Permanent secretary Howard Sikwela says so far, the ministry has received close to one hundred application letters.
Reverend Sikwela has since invited churches that have not yet applied for the funds to do so before the deadline on April 9th, 2021.
He says his ministry will in the next few weeks start the evaluation process of the applicants in readiness for disbursement of the funds.
Reverend Sikwela said this when he met and addressed the clergy men and women in Kalabo and Senanga districts.
And, Kalabo district commissioner Makokwa Kamwi thanked government for not leaving out the district in its development agenda.
