ZANIS, August 13, 2021, Kapiri Mposhi— The tallying of votes in the 2021 general elections in Kapiri Mposhi is well started.
At 14:30 p.m., results from 42 of the district’s 146 polling stations had been received at the Kapiri Mposhi totalling Center.
Elizabeth Manda, the Kapiri Mposhi Returning Officer, announced that results from 42 voting stations had been handed in and were ready for summing.
She said that Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND) is leading the presidential race with 7,556 votes, while Edgar Lungu of the Patriotic Front (PF) has 5,945 votes from the 42 polling stations that have been tabulated.
Stanley Kakubo of the UPND leads the Parliamentary race with 7,439 votes, followed by Chrispin Siingwa of the PF with 6,924 votes.
Democratic Party candidate, Stephen Kabwe is in third position with about 417 votes while Socialist Party candidate Paul Chilenga is fourth with a paltry 228 votes from results counted from 42 polling stations.
The totaling of results started around 02:20 hours today and poll staff have continued to trickle in with results from various polling stations.
