Lands and Natural Resources Minister JEAN KAPATA says foreigners will NOT be allowed to have title to land once the Land Policy is launched.

Mrs. KAPATA says Government will not regulate the selling of land by Zambians but will regulate the leasing of land to foreigners.

She explains that it is very difficult to control the sale of land and that stopping Zambians from selling their land would be unfair.

Mrs. KAPATA was responding to Chipili Member of Parliament JEWIS CHABI who wanted to know how many foreigners acquired land in the country from 2014 to 2019, during the Question for Oral Answer Session in Parliament today.

She said the Land Policy will be launched before parliament dissolves on May 12 2021.

Ms. KAPATA added that in 2014, 32 foreigners acquired land, and 57 foreigners acquired land in 2015,

The Minister said the economic benefits for the country by foreigners owning land include technology and capital that they bring into the country.
