Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Charles Mushota has urged women and the youth in Churches to access the Covid-19 empowerment scheme given to them by President Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Mushota says the women and the youth should access the scheme as they are the most hit by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the region.

He said this when Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Assistant Director for Religious Affairs Martha Sitali paid a courtesy call on him before she addressed the clergy in Mansa, Luapula province.

And speaking when she addressed the clergy on behalf of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Sumaili, Mrs. Sitali encouraged the Church to access the scheme in order to alleviate the sufferings brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the same function, Mansa Pastors Fellowship Chairperson Maxwell Mumba thanked President Edgar Lungu for the scheme, saying it will go a long way in resuscitating various Church activities.

Bishop Mumba also advised political parties to tame their cadres in the run-up to the August 12, general election so that peace prevails before, during and after the polls.
