President Edgar Lungu says chiefs have a huge role to play in uniting people countrywide.

President Lungu says the initiative taken by chiefs in Southern and Eastern provinces to have exchange visits is welcome.

The Head of state is happy that Chief Chikanta is in Eastern Province to interact with other traditional leaders.

He says government will support efforts by stakeholders that are meant to promote the One Zambia One Nation motto.

President Lungu said this last evening when he met Traditional leaders who included Chief Chikanta in Petauke.

And speaking earlier, Senior Chief Kalindawo said chiefs want to lead the way in uniting the nation.

Later, the President addressed Church leaders whom he assured of government support.

He encouraged the church leaders to come up with business projects which can be supported by the state.

President Lungu said government is aware that the Church looks after the weak and vulnerable.

And speaking on behalf of the Pastors, Teddy Mundia said Church leaders are aware of Politicians that want to promote peace in Zambia.

Pastors Mundia said it is good that President Lungu is among those who have publicly denounced violence.

He said the church in Petauke will continue praying and working with government.
