President Edgar Lungu says government will support private sector businesses that want to invest in rural areas.

President Lungu is happy that ABSA Bank has built and opened a new branch in Petauke District.

He says it is such acts that will help people in rural areas to have services similar to those that are provided in Lusaka.

The President said ABSA has shown commitment to the people of Zambia by opening new branches when others are closing.

He said this when he opened an ABSA branch in Petauke.

Speaking earlier, ABSA Managing Director Mizinga Melu said her Bank will continue helping farmers in Petauke to grow.

She said ABSA has also been supporting small scale businesses in Eastern Province.
