The Israeli government has supplied oxygen concentrators worth $2,800 USD to the paediatric ward at Solwezi General Hospital. When presenting two oxygen concentrators today, Honorary Consul of the State of Israel in Zambia, Sinya Mbale, stated that the donation is intended to assist Zambia in combating COVID-19.
Mr Mbale stated that Israel has made progress in the fight against COVID-19, with more than 60% of the population vaccinated.
He hoped that the donated equipment will help in the fight against the pandemic.
“This is an advanced oxygen concentrator and we hope this will go a long way in the fight against COVID-19”, Mr Mbale said.
And Solwezi General Hospital Medical Superintendent, Namwaka Mukunyandela thanked the government of Israel as well as chief Mumena for the cordial friendship shared with the people.
Dr. Mukunyandela noted that the oxygen concentrators were donated to the children’s ward since children have difficulty breathing when they are sick.
Meanwhile, chief Mumena of the Kaonde-speaking people of Kalumbila district hailed the Israeli government for the kind contribution, which he said came at an opportune moment as the country battled COVID-19.
CHIEF Mumena promised to continue sharing the positive relationship he has with the Israeli people and expressed thanks that the donation had benefited Solwezi.
