The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- says only those in possession of the old voters’ cards will vote in the forthcoming Maramba Ward by-election, on January 4, 2021.

Livingstone District Voter Education Publicity Coordinator, Melvin Mukela, says the new voters’ cards will NOT be used in the by-election because the new voter register is not yet out.

Mr. Mukela has advised voters in Maramba not to throw away their old voters’ cards.

He has also cautioned voters in Maramba against surrendering or giving out details of their old voters’ cards and National Registration Cards to unscrupulous individuals that are reported to be going round the ward collecting such details.

Mr. Mukela said this in an interview with ZNBC News shortly after a voter sensitisation exercise in Maramba Ward today.

And a senior citizen, Sililo Sitwala, has encouraged voters in Maramba to participate in the by-election in numbers.

Ms. Sitwala said voting is an important exercise as it gives citizens the power to choose leaders that they feel can develop their area.
