The Emerald Production Watch of Zambia -EPWZ- is excited with the positive response Kagem has shown towards empowerment of young miners on the Copperbelt province.
EPWZ President Musa Kafimbwa says Kagem mine has shown willingness to give youths in Lufwanyama empowerment that will reduce their risk of being found on the hazardous mine dumpsites.
Mr. Kafimbwa says this follows a closed-door meeting held at Kagem with the mine board members, management and officials from the Ministry of Mines on the way forward regarding the request made by young miners on the possibilities of giving them Kagem dumpsite.
He explains that the mine promised to help youths move out of the dangerous dumpsites by giving them sustainable empowerment.
Mr. Kafimbwa has told ZANIS that the company has since requested youths to quickly form a cooperative for easy processing of the empowerment.
And Kagem Mine Board Chairperson Sixtus Mulenga promised to issue a compressive statement in due course.
