Zambia Tourism Agency – ZTA Board Chairperson, TECLA NGWENYA, has implored tour operators to come up with packages that are affordable to the local market.
Dr. NGWENYA says by making tourism packages affordable, the tour operators will greatly help develop domestic tourism.
This is contained in a speech read for her by ZTA Director – Licencing and Standards, SOLICITOR CHEELO, at the official opening of the Zambian Travel Indaba, in Livingstone.
Dr. NGWENYA said the Zambian Travel Indaba is a good initiative and a clear example of how the private sector can help steer tourism growth in Zambia.
Speaking at the same function, Livingstone Mayor EUGENE MAPUWO urged tour operators to find time and engage locals in marketing tourism.
Mr. MAPUWO said he is hopeful that the Indaba will stimulate the tourism industry to get back where it used to be before the Covid-19 pandemic.
And Livingstone Tourism Association -LTA chairperson RODNEY SIKUMBA said the association remains open to initiatives that are aimed at improving the tourism sector.
Mr. SIKUMBA said the goal of LTA and tour operators in Livingstone is to have a good share of the domestic and international tourists.
Convener of the Zambian Travel Indaba, TONI BURATTO, said the indaba is meant to encourage Zambians to visit Livingstone and promote domestic tourism.
